How to Apply a New Wallpaper on the Walls

It is very easy for you to easily change the look of room by applying new wallpapers on the wall. You can easily do it by following some necessary steps for it:

To start this work, you have to carefully consider your room. Firstly you should start with the wall which is least noticeable by the visitors of your home. You should do proper measurement before applying the wallpaper, and make the marks with the help of pencil. Now you have to draw a vertical straight line with the help of a pencil from the spot you have marked earlier with the help of level. You should make the first strip of the wallpaper as straight as possible for you. It will bring your success in this work. You have to follow this procedure for each wall and corner. Now cut the first strip and leave extra 2 inches at bottom and at top also so you can trim the wallpaper.

If the wallpaper you are using is self-adhesive, you should soak it before applying on the walls. For this you can use a tray full which is 2/3 with water. Water should be at room temperature. You have to make the roll of the strip and put the paste on the outer side. If you will do this work correctly the pattern will not be seen by you. Now after rolling it you have to soak the wallpaper in the water tray for the required time which is recommended by the maker company of the wallpaper. Normally this time period is up to 30 seconds. After the recommended time, you can take out the wallpaper from the tray of water. Now put it on a table and make it unroll with proper care. You should check that all the paste of the wallpaper should be wet.

Now after soaking it you have to roll the wallpaper from both sides and paste it inside. You should be very careful while doing this and give proper rest to the strip. You have to properly follow the manufacturers’ instructions for doing this. After giving the proper time to the strip for rest, now you can hang the strip on the wall where you want to apply it. You can apply it on the wall by unfolding the top half of the strip. You can leave the extra paper overlapped on the adjoining walls or on the ceilings. For pressing the wallpaper strip against the wall, you can use a wallpaper smoothing tool. You should take care that the wallpaper should not be stretched. After doing this now it is the time to unfold the bottom half and make it smooth. After doing this you should smooth the whole strip with the help of a wallpaper smoothing tool. You can apply this tool vertically, horizontally and diagonally also. It will help to remove all the air pockets from the wallpaper. Once you have removed the air pockets from the wallpaper, you can clear the extra glue with the help of a wet sponge.

Now it is time to trim the wallpaper from the both bottom and top side. You can do this with the help of a putty knife. You have to apply the wet sponge once again to clear the extra glue from the ceiling and from the baseboards. Once you have applied the first strip of wallpaper, in a similar manner you can apply the other strips also. But you should take care that the pattern should be matched with the first strip. You should touch the corners of the both strips close together. You should clean the extra glue as soon as it is possible for you.
