A new painting scheme can only change the look or appearance of the home easily than any other type of improvement. The cost of this process of new painting scheme is low and it requires less effort than doing other type of improvements in the home. The new painting scheme only want much time for it completion, so one should have patience while doing this work. If you want to paint the interior of your home successfully, you can follow the following six tips for this purpose:
- Take a single room at one time for the painting. You should prepare the room for painting properly. Firstly, you have to shift the furniture of that room to some other safe places. If you have a small home, and don’t have the enough places to shift the furniture, then you can place this furniture in the middle of the room, while doing the paint work. You should put off all the curtains and blinds from the windows. You should also remove all the pictures and paintings from the walls of the room and faceplates from electrical outlets. You can use a waste rag for cleaning the dirt from the walls. While painting paneling, you should trim the surfaces with waste rag.
- The areas, which you don’t want to paint, should be covered with painters tape or masking tape. The areas which should be covered are – locks on the doors and windows, fixture of lights on the ceiling, electric switches and edges of the windows etc.
- If you apply paint on the walls of the room only then the looks of the ceiling will deteriorate in front of the walls. It will create discoloration, because mostly the ceilings are white, and turn pale over the time. So while start painting, you should start with painting the ceiling first, because it is a very difficult task to paint the ceiling, because during the painting the ceiling, sometimes the paint falls on the floor or on the wall. So if it falls on the wall or on the floor, while painting ceiling first, then this can be easily be covered while painting the walls. Paint the ceiling with roller needs two or three coats to cover the whole area of ceiling. Sometimes the roller skips and creates spots on the ceiling. To cover these spots one should use the paint with color, after drying which change its color in another for e.g. typical gray colored paint change into white colored paint. You can easily detect the spots with these types of colors and you can easily repaint those spots.
- While painting, you have to paint the trim also. It includes moldings, doorframes, window frames etc. For this, you should have to use detail brushes, so it you will paint desired areas only. You should cover the floor, before trim, so the paint will not apply on the floor. Let the trim dry for two days before starting to paint the walls.
- After trim work, you should cover it with the tape to prevent it from the paint spots, while painting the walls of the room. You should take care while painting the walls. You can use masking tape to cover the trim work, where it is attached to the wall to be painted. After applying masking tape on the trim, you should create a paint stripe with a brush around the taped area and also paint the corners of the room.
- After painting near the taped area and corners of the room, you can apply paint on the remaining wall area. It can be painted with a brush or with a roller. But roller can do this more easily than a brush. After applying first coat, let it dry, then apply second coat in the same manner and let it dry for two days. Once the paint is dry, you can cut the tape from the surface with the help of a knife.
