Remodeling a project is a major job. If you want to replace a damaged fixture, you want to protect the fixture that you want to keep or want to save that fixture before its being too late. Before starting remodeling of an old house you have to take some steps to protect your fixtures :
Find the fixture that are to be removed :
Fixtures that are to be protected, place them at safe place, when the project is in progress. Some fixtures are small like electric fixtures or plumbing items, these are easy to remove.Wrap them properly and these can be kept in a cartoom (box) and label the box properly.
Some fixtures are large like bathtubs, sinks, wooden items like windows, doors or any electric items. Place them at safe place where the work is not being done so that they may be protected.
Some fixtures are to be placed at same place from where these are removed. To avoid any confusion label the items with numbers 1,2,3 and so on. Draw the map of each room. Lable these items on the map where these are to be placed. That will save your time after remodeling.
The items or fixtures kept in boxes can be stored in hte same room where it belonged. Store them there only if the work in progress will not affect these items. Otherwise store them anywhere else or off-site.
Find the items that can not be removed :
Some fixtures are very heavy or it is very difficult to remove. Or its removal may be expensive and time wasting or these may be any damaged during transit. So there is no need to remove these fixtures from their place.
All you have to do is Wrap those items with newspaper or cover them with cloth. If the fixture is at the place of being obstacle in the way as to be bumped with anything, just block that area temporarily.
Some Historical fixtures are there that need to be protected because these are the main part of remodeling.
If you make a blue print by considering the above points you will feel after the remodeling that you have saved time and money.
