There are several causes of appearing the lap marks on the painted surfaces. Firstly, the improper use of paint brush can be a cause of these lap marks. For avoiding this problem you have to paint the walls with different directions i.e. north, east, south, west at different time i.e. in early morning, late morning, afternoon, late afternoon respectively. With this you can easily avoid the problem of lap marks. You have to avoid sunlight and windy day for painting the outside walls of your home because wind also makes the paint dry and can create lap marks.

One another cause of lap marks is using a roller and a paint brush at one time. Because paint brushes create heavy coats then rollers, so when you apply paint brushes and rollers together, it will create lap marks. To avoid this problem, you can use specially made trim pads instead of paint brushes. These trim pads can help you to avoid the problem of lap marks. For the smoothness of the walls you have to use the paint rollers in a correct manner.

If you have a wall in your home, with many lap marks, you can repair it by applying another light paint coat on it. Take small area while painting because you can avoid drying up of paints with this. Applying superior quality paint and primer is the main requirement for the best results. You have to read and follow the manufacturer’s direction on the cans carefully.

You should paint your home walls in weather conditions which are favorable for painting. You should also use good quality equipments while painting, for getting best results.
